What's a House Concert?

A house concert is a private event where I perform in the intimate setting of your living room, backyard, or any space really of your choosing. It's a unique way to enjoy live music and storytelling up close and personal, surrounded by friends and family. Your space will be transformed into a listening room where we have the opportunity to connect on a level that just isn't possible in a public venue.
The format can be whatever we choose but typically consists of about a half hour of pre-show socializing where your guests get a chance to arrive and settle in, grab a drink or two (coffee and tea are totally acceptable) and get ready for the event.
I come out and play a 45 minute set followed by an intermission giving your guests time to take care of nature calling and maybe grab another refreshment or snack. Then I come out and play another 45 minutes and after the performance we all hang out and get a chance to really get to know each other.
It's a remarkable experience and in recent years become my preferred way to perform!
I can't do it without you though so read on…

Why Host a House Concert?

  • Exclusive Guest List: You have complete control over the guest list, ensuring that only your invited friends and family are present. No strangers, just a cozy gathering of people you know and trust.
  • Personal Experience: Enjoy a personal and engaging performance in the comfort of your own home and quickly become the envy of your friend group. Who else but you would dare to do something this bold?
  • Support Local Artists: You'll be helping keep the arts alive in your community and educating people in your circle in a very meaningful way.

How It Works:

  1. Choose a Date: We'll work together to find a date that works for both of us!
  2. Invite Guests: You invite your friends, family and music lovers. As few as 10 guests and probably not more than 50 with 25 - 35 really being the sweet spot for us both.
  3. Donation-Based Event: The event is donation-based with all proceeds going directly to support my artistic pursuits. Guests should be made aware of this in the invitation phase so as to not be caught off guard on the evening. This is the sometimes uncomfortable and often misunderstood intersection of art and commerce but most people are aware of the concept of “passing the hat” and actually find great purpose and reward in their generosity. I prefer to not have a suggested minimum donation and rather have folks donate an amount they feel comfortable with. Some people will be moved more than others and I never want money to be a barrier for anybody to be able to participate. This whole event is about Connections.
  4. BYOB: This is entirely up to you as the host. The evening can be structured any way you like. Some hosts choose to provide snacks and drinks while others choose to have guests bring their own drinks and even a dish to pass. Again, you're the boss and it will be whatever you plan it to be.
